Building Community Beyond Construction

Walsh’s deep commitment to supporting nonprofit and mission-driven clients is a dedicated effort that reflects our core values of generosity, health, respect, and consistency.

For decades, Walsh has prioritized working on projects that uplift communities, supporting the important work of our clients to provide housing and other critical services that enable people to thrive. This year, Walsh’s employees have once again demonstrated the company’s culture of care by dedicating their time, energy, and resources to make meaningful impacts that ripple throughout the communities they serve. By giving their time, resources, and money, Walsh has continued to build community beyond the boundary of our construction fences.

Our annual employee giving campaign is one of the ways we embody this commitment to our community. This year, collectively between our employees and a company match, we raised over $388,000 for mission-driven organizations such as Bridge Meadows, Central City Concern, Girls Build, Northwest Housing Alternatives, Portland Youth Builders, LIHI, Mercy Housing, Community Roots Housing, ANEW, and the Oregon Food Bank, among may others. These contributions directly support our clients and the people actively working to make our communities better. Especially during the holidays, this impact will help families meet basic needs, support access to construction trades training, and strengthen the resiliency of our neighbors.

Doreen's Place dinners are a monthly highlight at our company. An opportunity to get involved, and bring family in to help serve.

Beyond financial contributions, Walsh employees also actively engage in hands-on volunteerism, strengthening community bonds. Serving warm meals at Doreen’s Place in Bud Clark Commons, a tradition since 2009, exemplifies Walsh’s long-term commitment to local service. Additionally, Walsh teams find creative ways to give back on job sites, such as at Hillside Park, where team members recently provided turkeys and hams to local residents, ensuring families could enjoy a warm holiday meal.

Our builder mentality is front and center during our times with Rebuilding Together South Sound. Rain or shine, Walsh shows up.

We also continue to support hands-on work with organizations such as Rebuilding Together South Sound (in our 22nd year), Annual Oregon Tradeswomen's Career Fair (in our 31st year), Providence’s O Christmas Tree (in our 10th year donating a tree).

A cheeky, yet effective campaign to ensure breast cancer awareness and funding stays strong.

Best yet, we make generosity fun! Our Save the Rack tee shirt sales directly benefit breast cancer research and you will frequently see Walsh team members participating in 5ks, bike races, and other endurance events to support a good cause.

These efforts are a testament to Walsh Construction Co.’s ethos of generosity, which is woven into the fabric of our work and culture. By combining philanthropy with action, Walsh goes beyond building structures—it builds hope, connection, and opportunity. As the company reflects on another impactful year, it is clear that Walsh’s values are not just ideals but lived experiences. Every dollar donated, meal served, and volunteer hour contributed embodies the company’s unwavering commitment to uplifting people and communities. Through these actions, Walsh continues to prove that its mission is about far more than construction—it’s about creating a foundation for a better future.
